Lois F. HallAfter earning her BA in British and American Literature from Brown University, Lois began her publishing career at Little, Brown and Company in Boston. There she worked her way up from editorial assistant to senior book production editor in the medical division. Under the tutelage of several talented mentors, she honed her skills as proofreader, copyeditor, and developmental editor. In 1981, she left Little, Brown to begin her freelance editorial company, which attracted the attention of numerous major publishers who became steady clients. In addition to countless book copyediting assignments during her self-employment, she has been honored with the sole editing responsibility for more than a half dozen quarterly and bimonthly journals. Lois also has served as project manager for a number of business and medical publishers, assisting authors in refining their manuscripts and then overseeing the various phases of production of those manuscripts to finished product. She has consulted with packagers and publishers to train their copyediting staff via a self-designed seminar. Lois has assisted with the Young Authors program in the local schools and offers editorial workshops for students. In her spare time, she has helped to establish several readers' discussion groups and a Friends of the Library organization for the local library, where she also serves as a life-term trustee and volunteers as a literacy tutor. In addition, at her local high school she is coteaching a senior honors seminar that she helped to develop and implement. Currently, with her partner, Marius Broekhuizen,
Lois is co-authoring a writing manual for medical professionals. |
